In addition these were the models that the United States government required Sunbeam to use a double pole thermostat which disabled both the "netural" and "hot" leads of the power going into the toaster. The T-35-1 and T-40-1 were increased to 1375 watts of power. Both the T-40 and the T-35 were 1275 watt toasters. The original T-40 is the exact same toaster as the T-35 except the lightness/darkness control became a slide selector and was moved to the front under the badge "Sunbeam Vista". Please read further if you would like additional information about this stunning VT-40-1 Sunbeam Radiant Control Toaster.About the T-40 SeriesThe T-40 series was manufactured from 1962 to 1973 at the same time as the T-35 (1958 to 1967) so there were two models to choose from in department stores. This will keep the covers from rusting and causing the chrome to pit.The base frame plate of this Vista was painted on both sides as well as both sides of the crumb tray with high temperature ceramic spray paint and cured at 400 degrees (see picture). When the bread is toasted, moisture from the toasting process is trapped between the mechanism and the covers. ![]() NEW ADDITIONAL PROCESS:I have begun painting (with high temperature paint) the inside of the chrome ends (in this case the ends are powder coated on both sides) and clam shell cover because of rust (see picture). It is truly a stunning color combination! The end covers have been powder coated with Kingsport gray as there was pitting and scratches that could not be removed. Origin:Sunbeam Products, Chicago, IllinoisĬONDITION:Completely restored chrome plating on the "clam shell cover" isin beautiful condition with very minor "from use" scratches. As usual, the toaster will be shipped in its own special box.ĭate Manufactured:Built between 19 (Most likely 1970 to 1973?)
